Our Team
Andy White BEng(Hons) GCert
Managing Director & Principal Coach
Andy is an experienced safety coach with over 18 years in the construction, logistics, transport and tourism industries.
Having established himself as an award winning civil engineer on major infrastructure projects in the UK and New Zealand, he turned his attention to business improvement particularly Safety, Quality and Environmental best practice. Over recent years he has been pivotal in the development of safety systems, cultures and processes for some of New Zealand’s most dynamic and complex organisations, from the isolated and unforegiving wilderness of Antarctica for Antarctica New Zealand, to the fast-paced remote operations of Real Journeys in Fiordland.
This fascination with organisational complexity has granted Andy access to some of the most dynamic and highly reliable organisations to be found anywhere within New Zealand. An insight that has lead to his current part-time studies in a Masters of Safety Leadership at Griffith University, Australia, under the tutorage of world-renown safety scholars Professor Sidney Dekker and Doctor Drew Rae, in which he is studying and researching safety science, sociology and psychology to help better understand the complicated realm of safety.
Andy is indebted to his many international peers and mentors who actively support his personal development and future doctoral studies at Griffith’s Safety Science Innovation Laboratory, including Dr Drew Rae, Professor Sidney Dekker, Dr Todd Conklin, Dr John Green, Kelvin Genn, David Provan, and Daniel Hummerdal.
Andy is passionate about supporting organisations and our wider communities, supporting NZTA and WorkSafe NZ in the development of a number of new Best Practice Guideline documents.
In his spare time he enjoys the great NZ wilderness by canyoning, kayaking, climbing and tramping, and is an Executive Member of the New Zealand Canyoning Association supporting the safe and sustainable growth of the sport within New Zealand.
